Lubi Cave

Lubi Cave is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Lubi Cave is located in Lizhi Gou Town, Sanya City, approximately 15 kilometers from downtown Sanya. The cave is situated on a uniquely shaped small hill and is a natural limestone karst cave. The cave entrance is about 12 meters high, 9 meters wide, and 18 meters deep. In the center of the cave, two stalactites hang down, resembling giant brushes suspended in mid-air. Legend has it that in ancient times, water continuously dripped from the tips of the brushes, and if people caught the droplets with their hands, they would become more eloquent and able to write masterpieces effortlessly. On the cave floor lie several large stone slabs shaped like inkstones, said to be the writing tools used by immortals. The two “giant brushes” have been damaged, and now only half of the remains can be seen hanging from the cave ceiling. Inside Lubi Cave, there are numerous stone inscriptions. Among them, the lines “Lubi Cave cave cave brush falls” and “Jianfeng Ridge ridge ridge peak sharp,” when read forwards or backwards, are the same—a clever play on words that is both meaningful and thought-provoking.

Transportation: Take bus No. 7 from the bus terminal to Sanya College. The cave is right at the school gate once you get off the bus; the fare is 3 yuan.
