Xiaodonghai Bay is located about 5 kilometers from the city center in the Luhuitou Development Zone and is an emerging tourist and leisure destination.

This sea area is one of the national nature reserves in Sanya approved by the State Council. The water quality here is Class I, with over 600 species of marine life. The seabed features beautiful and abundant coral communities and tropical fish, as well as rustic wooden structures, creating a strong leisure atmosphere. The area offers a variety of marine recreational activities including scuba diving, underwater walking, night diving, sightseeing boats, semi-submersibles, parasailing, deep-sea fishing, underwater photography, and beach relaxation.

Xiaodonghai is a small bay located southwest of Dadonghai. Like most beaches in Sanya, it boasts coconut groves, clean sands, and clear waters. However, compared to Dadonghai and Yalong Bay, it is much less known, which helps preserve a more tranquil environment.

The Xiaodonghai sea area is a national coral reef reserve, with beautiful and diverse coral communities and tropical fish on the seabed. However, the beach has relatively more rocks, and the sand is coarser than that of Dadonghai, making many areas unsuitable for swimming. Snorkeling is a good option here, but most visitors come to enjoy the serenity.

Best Time to Visit

December to April of the following year. During this period, Sanya enjoys a comfortable climate, making it an ideal winter retreat—free from summer heat and the typhoon season.
