West Island is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Also known as Turtle Dove Island, West Island is located within the Sanya Bay National Nature Reserve. The island covers an area of 2.8 square kilometers and has a population of over 3,000 residents who have made a living from fishing for generations. It is 8 kilometers from Sanya City—about a 25-minute boat ride from the city center, or a 15-minute boat ride from the Pearl Cultivation Factory Pier. Due to its distance from urban areas, the waters are less polluted, and the island boasts beautiful scenery, fresh air, soft beaches, and crystal-clear water. The surrounding sea is home to a large number of beautiful corals, which are well-preserved, along with a vibrant array of colorful tropical fish, creating a massive tropical marine ecosystem that makes it a great place for leisure and vacation.

West Island Marine Amusement World combines a variety of marine leisure and recreational activities. Leveraging the island’s excellent natural conditions, it has developed a first-class activity center spanning an area of 1 square kilometer of sea space, aiming to offer visitors a tropical, thrilling yet relaxing holiday destination.

Currently, the amusement world offers activities such as fishing, diving, jet skiing, water skiing, parasailing, sailing, banana boat rides, sea walking, and glass-bottom boat tours. The Fishing Club is currently the largest and best fishing club in Sanya. On the eastern side of the island, several offshore fishing platforms have been built, including one of the largest at over 200 square meters, capable of accommodating more than 100 people fishing simultaneously. The platform includes private cabins and a music tea lounge, allowing visitors to enjoy tea and fishing in a tranquil atmosphere accompanied by soft music. Experienced fishing instructors are also on hand to provide guidance, and the fish you catch can be prepared into delicious fresh soup on-site or taken to island restaurants for cooking, making for a truly unique experience. There are hundreds of lightweight and easy-to-use fishing rods available on the platform, and in the waters around the fishing area,

there are tens of thousands of artificial fish shelters and long-term bait placements, attracting large groups of fish to gather and breed in this area, such as sea bream, gold-line fish, snapper, damselfish, grouper, batfish, parrotfish, yellowtail, and more. Fishing here will surely yield a bountiful catch. To cater to visitors seeking a higher level of adventure, the club also provides several luxury speedboats that seat 16, 7, or 5 people, offering a romantic and leisurely yachting fishing experience where guests can venture out to sea and cast long lines for big catches.

On the western side of the island lies our diving area, equipped with hundreds of imported diving devices and staffed by over 30 star-rated instructors ready to provide top-notch service to visitors. With water depths ranging from 10 to 20 meters and high visibility due to clear seawater, the underwater world is rich in biodiversity. Here, you can admire beautiful stag horn corals, plate corals, lionfish, clownfish, groupers, surgeonfish, starfish, sea anemones, sea urchins, and conches, making it an excellent spot for diving.

The northwest corner of West Island features a vast and gentle beach, which serves as the main area for swimming and various marine activities in the amusement world. Visitors can choose their favorite activities, including jet skis, sailboats, banana boats, parasailing, water skiing, and luxury speedboats—all featuring modern and safe facilities.

After enjoying the fun, visitors can head to the 900-square-meter seaside restaurant in the amusement world to savor a variety of wild seafood and Hainan specialties. At night, guests can stay at the floating sea hotel, which was refurbished from a thousand-ton cruise ship, and participate in a range of exciting evening activities such as night fishing, night diving, and beach bonfire parties, immersing themselves in nature. From the pier to West Island, the amusement world provides ferry services at all times, with vessels ranging from small 4-seat speedboats to large 70-seat ferries, ensuring the most convenient travel options. Peak season gate price: 140 RMB (20 RMB for ticket, 120 RMB for ferry), off-season gate price: 136 RMB (16 RMB for ticket, 120 RMB for ferry). The off-season is from April to September.

Ticket discount policies:

1. Children under 1.2 meters are exempt from the ticket fee.

2. Children between 1.2–1.4 meters, seniors aged 60–70 (with valid ID), students, journalists, and teachers can enjoy a discounted price of 130 RMB per person at the scenic area.

3. Seniors over 70 (excluding 70), military personnel, disabled individuals (with valid ID) can enjoy a discounted price of 120 RMB per person at the scenic area.

4. Holders of Hainan local ID cards can enjoy a discounted price of 80 RMB per person at the scenic area.

Transportation

1. If you purchase tickets from the official flagship store of West Island, you can take the free scenic shuttle bus: departs daily at 8:30 AM from Dadonghai Summer Department Store; arrives at Haiyue Plaza Golden Phoenix Hotel around 9:00 AM; passes through the Sanya Bay hotel area between 9:00–9:20 AM; arrives at Xiaoqi Port—the gateway to West Island’s land-sea transport—around 9:30 AM; the free shuttle bus returns from Xiaoqi Port in the afternoon at 4:30 PM via the same route.

2. Bus: Take bus routes 6, 16, 21, 24, or 25 and get off at the “West Island Xiaoqi Port” stop.

3. Taxi: A one-way taxi ride from downtown Sanya costs about 50 RMB.

4. Ferry schedule to the island: Earliest departure to the island is 8:00 AM, latest is 5:00 PM; the last ferry back leaves the island at 5:30 PM.
