Zhongtianling Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument

The Zhongtianling Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument is a classic site on China’s Red Tourism routes.

The Zhongtianling Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument is a patriotic education base in Sanya City, located on Zhongtian Public-Private Ridge, 2 kilometers west of the Tengqiao exit on the East Expressway. It is managed by the Sanya Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau.

Built in 1993, the monument features a reinforced concrete structure clad in mosaic tiles and is topped with red glazed tiles. It stands 13 meters tall, with a base that is 1.3 meters high and 4.3 meters wide. The base has three tiers, each 0.35 meters high and 4.38 meters wide. The front of the monument is inscribed with “Eternal Glory to the Revolutionary Martyrs,” while the front of the base bears an inscription composed by the Sanya Municipal People's Government on April 5, 1993. This inscription outlines the history, significance, and role of the Zhongtian Revolutionary Base. At the left and right rear of the monument are pavilions. Each hexagonal pavilion is 4.5 meters high and 3.5 meters wide, topped with red glazed tiles.

The Zhongtian Revolutionary Base was established in 1927 and served as the rear base during the armed uprising of workers and peasants in Tengqiao that year. During the Agrarian Revolutionary Period, it was the site of the CPC Lingya County Committee and the Ling County Soviet Government. In the War of Resistance Against Japan, it housed the CPC Lingya-Baole Border Area Party (Workers') Committee and the Border Area Office. During the Liberation War, party, government, and military leadership bodies such as the Yazhou County, Yusan County, Yusan Special District authorities, and the Third Detachment of the Qiongya Column were stationed here for extended periods.
