The great dragon soars across the heavens, the lesser dragon lies low on the earth — hence the name Longzi Bay. When Xiao Qi from the Sanya Happy Free-man Outdoor Club first explored this serene, untouched paradise far from the hustle and bustle, he was awestruck by such breathtaking beauty and named it Longzi Bay in honor of this magnificent discovery. Since then, this small bay has become widely renowned.

The waters of Longzi Bay are crystal clear. The horizontal visibility can reach an impressive 18–30 meters, and the underwater coral is abundant and vibrant in color. The marine life is also incredibly diverse, featuring comical clownfish, elegant angelfish, and brightly colored butterflyfish. From time to time, you might even spot schools of silvery-gray fish about a foot long, numbering in the hundreds — a truly spectacular sight.

Also known as Baifu Bay, Longzi Bay is located southwest of the Yalong Bay National Resort District in Sanya City, the southernmost part of Hainan Island. It is approximately 21 kilometers from downtown Sanya. To the west, it borders Liudao Bay, and to the east, it neighbors Taiyang Bay. Diving in Yalong Bay generally centers around Baifu Bay, with Dongzhou Island serving as the secondary dive site.

Baifu Bay is surrounded by mountains on three sides and faces the sea on one. The coral reefs here are among the best-preserved in Yalong Bay. They have been hailed by international environmental experts as one of the “few remaining, China’s only, and the world’s largest soft coral conservation areas.”
