The Sanya East River National Wetland Park is a national-level wetland park.

The Sanya East River National Wetland Park is located in Jiyang District, Sanya, and primarily consists of wetlands such as the East Bank Wetland Park, the Mangrove Ecological Park on Chunguang Road, Banling Reservoir, and Caopeng Reservoir, covering a total area of 703.45 hectares. The wetland area spans 239.56 hectares, accounting for 34.06% of the planned zone. Surveys show that the wetland park planning area boasts rich ecological resources, including 322 species of vascular plants from 238 genera and 96 families. Among these, there are 27 species of ferns from 18 genera and 15 families, and 295 species of angiosperms from 220 genera and 81 families. There are also 138 species of wild vertebrates from 67 families and 24 orders, comprising 16 species of mammals from 9 families and 6 orders, 65 species of birds from 34 families and 12 orders, 17 species of reptiles from 7 families and 1 order, 11 species of amphibians from 6 families and 1 order, and 29 species of fish from 11 families and 4 orders. Additionally, there are 21 species of benthic animals (invertebrates) from 3 phyla.

The entire park is divided into five functional zones: wetland conservation, restoration and reconstruction, education and exhibition, rational utilization, and management services. In accordance with the "Sanya East River National Wetland Park Master Plan in Hainan" approved by the State Forestry Administration, Sanya aims to develop it into a flagship project of wetland park construction in Hainan, a new model for the protection and utilization of coastal wetland resources in China, and a base for the science education and promotion of coastal mangroves in China within five years.
