The Sun and Moon Rocks at Tianya Haijiao

In the sea stand two massive intersecting rocks, each inscribed with the Chinese characters for "Sun" (日) and "Moon" (月). These are the famous Sun and Moon Rocks, inscribed by Fan Jingyi, former chief editor of the People's Daily. The two rocks form a heart shape, leaning close to one another. Many beautiful love stories revolve around these stones, hence they are also called the “Love Rocks.” The 1986 TV series Journey to the West filmed the scene where Sun Wukong bursts out from a rock here. Additionally, the Sun and Moon Divine Rocks serve as a testament to the eternal bonds of love, friendship, and family, enduring like the sun and moon.

Ticket Price

1. Peak Season: 95 RMB for individual visitors, 50 RMB for discounted tickets.

2. Off-Season: 80 RMB for individual visitors, 50 RMB for discounted tickets (including a 5 RMB government price adjustment fund).

Discount Policies

1. Students, seniors aged 60–69, people with disabilities (with valid ID), and children between 1.2–1.4 meters tall can purchase tickets for 50 RMB in both peak and off-seasons.

2. Active-duty military personnel, disabled veterans, retired military personnel, seniors aged 70 and above (inclusive), children under 1.2 meters tall, and other individuals eligible per national, provincial, and municipal regulations may enter free of charge.

Tips

1. Generally, the peak season refers to October 1 to April 30 each year, while the off-season is from May 1 to September 30.

2. June 1 of each year is designated as a Free Admission Day at the scenic area. Visitors with valid local ID (household registration or ID card) can enter for free.

Best Time to Visit

Winter — Sanya’s climate is pleasant during this season, making it an ideal place to escape the cold. Without the summer heat and avoiding typhoon season, winter is the most suitable time to visit.
