Lady Xian was originally from Gaozhou, Guangdong, and her name was Xian Ying. She married Feng Bao, the prefect of Gaozhou. After unifying the Lingnan region, she petitioned Emperor Wu of the Liang Dynasty to “re-establish Yazhou,” putting an end to the nominal control that the Central Plains government had exercised over Hainan Island since the Eastern Han Dynasty. This made her one of the most historically significant contributors to Hainan. Lady Xian lived through the Liang, Chen, and Sui dynasties. She was not only the female leader of the Baiyue peoples in the Lingnan region but also actively upheld national unity during times of great historical change. She was bestowed the title of “Protectress Marquis Consort” by the Liang Dynasty, “Grand Madam of Shilong Commandery” by the Chen Dynasty, and “Madam of Qiaoguo” by Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty. Under her governance, the Lingnan region maintained over 110 years of long-term stability and peace. Due to her outstanding contributions to national unity and ethnic solidarity, after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, Premier Zhou Enlai praised her as “the foremost heroine in Chinese history.”

1. Peak Season: 95 RMB for individual visitors, 50 RMB for discounted tickets.

2. Off-Peak Season: 80 RMB for individual visitors, 50 RMB for discounted tickets (including a 5 RMB government price adjustment fund).

Discount Policies

1. Students, seniors aged 60–69, people with disabilities (with valid ID), and children between 1.2 m and 1.4 m tall can purchase tickets for 50 RMB during both peak and off-peak seasons.

2. Active-duty military personnel, revolutionary disabled veterans, retired military personnel, seniors aged 70 and above (inclusive), children under 1.2 m tall, and other eligible individuals may enter free of charge according to relevant national, provincial, and municipal regulations.

Tips

1. Generally, the peak season refers to the period from October 1 to April 30 each year, while the off-peak season refers to the period from May 1 to September 30 each year.

2. June 1 of each year is designated as a Free Admission Day at the scenic area. Visitors with valid local ID (household registration booklet or ID card) can enter free of charge.

Lady Xian (522–602), an ethnic Li from southern Guangdong (now Shandong Village, Diancheng Town, Dianbai District, Maoming City, Guangdong Province), was the tribal leader of the Lingnan region during the Liang, Chen, and Sui dynasties, historically known as Madam of Qiaoguo.

Lady Xian was a leader widely supported by the various ethnic minority tribes in the region. She dedicated her life to promoting ethnic unity, fostering integration and cooperation among peoples, and advancing social progress and economic prosperity.
