Nanshan Auspicious Garden

The Auspicious Garden is a 600-acre area that blends features of Chinese, Japanese, and Western gardens, with plants as its main focus. It is home to ever-blooming bougainvillea, tall kapok trees, serene bodhi trees, date palms resembling wise elders, majestic and slender royal palms, coconuts, oil palms, and gracefully upright areca palms, towering ginkgo trees, as well as key tree species such as large-leaf lagerstroemia, mock orange, Chinese bellflower, and coffee, along with rare plants including Nanshan cordia, Hainan linden, Hainan asarum, and dragon’s blood tree.

Key attractions in the garden include: the Auspicious Bell Pavilion, the Eighteen Arhats, the Sutra of Auspiciousness, the Three Dharma Seals, and the White Pavilion — ascending the stone steps from the “Auspicious Garden” stone carving, you will see the classic-style Auspicious Bell Pavilion. Inside stands a 1.8-meter-tall, 0.8-ton bronze bell. On major holidays, grand bell-ringing ceremonies are held here to pray for blessings and ward off misfortune.
