Sanya Totem Poles

The totem poles are located in Yalong Bay Central Square, forming three concentric stone circles together with the surrounding central sculpture area. The totem poles and the sculpture group blend seamlessly, creating a visual experience of soaring toward the blue sky and extending toward the sea. Around the square, there are five sets of white sail-shaped pointed tents and a large colorful fountain, adding a modern touch to the deeply cultural sculptures.

The column surfaces feature relief carvings of sixteen totem patterns. Each circle of the stone array holds its own unique significance. For example, the first circle’s stone arrays represent ancient symbols of the four cardinal directions. The second circle’s eight stone arrays depict eight classic ancient myths. The third circle’s carvings express the Chinese nation’s reverence for natural totems. The totem poles endow Yalong Bay Central Square with artistic depth and are well worth a visit.
