Haikou Meilan International Airport is located in Haikou City, Hainan Province. It currently has a registered capital of 470 million RMB, with legal representative Zhang Cong. The shareholders include Haikou Meilan International Airport Co., Ltd., Copenhagen Airports (Denmark), Hainan Airlines Co., Ltd., and HNA Group Co., Ltd.

The main operations of Meilan International Airport include: providing transit and ground transportation services for domestic and international airlines and transfer passengers; leasing airside business spaces, commercial and office areas within the terminal and offering comprehensive services; investing in airport aviation and related auxiliary businesses; cargo warehousing, packaging, and loading/unloading services; as well as the sale of electrical appliances, electronic and communication equipment, textiles, handicrafts, non-staple food and local specialties, other food items, and magazines.

Currently, Meilan International Airport is a major domestic trunk airport, covering an area of 583 hectares. The airfield is built to the international ICAO 4E standard and can accommodate large aircraft such as the Boeing 747-400. The runway is equipped with a Category II instrument landing system and world-class Category II airfield lighting. Other air traffic control and airport service facilities also meet international advanced standards.

Meilan International Airport officially commenced operations on May 25, 1999. It operates a total of 95 routes, including 84 domestic, 2 regional, and 9 international routes, connecting to 56 cities. In 2005, the airport handled 7.0274 million passengers, ranking among the top ten civil airports in China.

The organizational structure of Melan Airport adopts a CEO team management system. The executive team consists of six Chief Officers: Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), Chief Safety Officer (CSO), Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), and Chief Human Resources & Training Officer (CHO).

Meilan Airport is known as a "garden-style airport." The airport enjoys fresh air and pleasant scenery, with a greening rate of 99.6% of its developable area. In August 2000, as a pilot unit for the modern enterprise system reform of Chinese civil aviation airports, Meilan Airport carried out comprehensive reforms. Through modern enterprise reform and capital operation, the airport has achieved remarkable results since restructuring. On November 18, 2002, Hainan Meilan Airport Co., Ltd. was successfully listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, marking the success of the pilot reform. The People's Government of Hainan Province and the Civil Aviation Administration of China highly commended the achievements of Meilan International Airport's reform.

In recent years, while strengthening its infrastructure, Meilan International Airport has continuously improved its service standards, striving to enhance customer satisfaction. In 2004, the overall satisfaction rate among passengers and airlines at Haikou Meilan International Airport reached 90%, with a flight punctuality rate of 99%. The airport has been awarded the title of “National Advanced Unit in Spiritual Civilization Industry Creation” by the National Civilization Committee, “National Model Unit for Greening” by the National Greening Commission, and has been nominated for “Best Emerging Airport” for two consecutive years in the awards organized by Asia Cargo News. It has also won the national “Passengers’ Choice for Civil Aviation” award for three consecutive years and was recognized as a “Creditworthy Enterprise” in Hainan Province by nine local banks. On April 1, 2005, after a strict on-site inspection by experts from the World Health Organization (WHO), Haikou Meilan International Airport met all the health criteria under the International Health Regulations and was certified as an International Sanitary Airport — making it the fourth airport in China to receive this honor.
