Lingshan Town

Lingshan Town is under the jurisdiction of Meilan District, Haikou City, located in the northeastern part of Haikou. It borders Guilinyang Economic Development Zone to the east, the Nandu River to the west, Yunlong Town of Qiongshan District to the south, and faces the Qiongzhou Strait to the north. The town has a long-standing and profound folk culture, with key programs such as the Hainan Folk Eight-Tone Music Band. This music genre has been officially recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage by China’s Ministry of Culture and is under state protection. Hainan Eight-Tone Music began to take shape during the Tang and Song dynasties and was already highly developed by the Ming Dynasty.
