Swan Lake Animal Base is a modern ecological park that integrates the breeding and farming of rare animals with tourism and sightseeing. The park is located in the Guilinyang Development Zone of Haikou City, adjacent to Guilinyang Avenue. It consists of water areas, small islands, and peninsulas. The water area is called Swan Lake, where large aquatic birds, primarily swans, roam freely. These include mute swans (native to Europe), black-necked swans (native to South America), black swans (native to Australia), whooper swans and tundra swans (from Asia), coscoroba swans (native to the Americas), and trumpeter swans (native to North America)—a total of seven species representing all types of swans in the world, which is unique in China. In addition, there are many other rare bird species such as bar-headed geese, Hawaiian geese, Canada geese, blue cranes, and red-crowned cranes. The small islands and peninsulas are divided into areas including Lemur Island, Tortoise World, Flamingo Valley, Parrot World, Meerkat, Otter, and Capybara Zone, Alpaca, Pony, and Zebra Area, as well as a Bird World centered around species such as the scarlet ibis, glossy ibis, and roseate spoonbill.
