Nanshan Conghuanggou Scenic Area

Nanshan Conghuanggou Scenic Area is situated in Nasuo Town, Fangcheng District, Fangchenggang City, and is one of the five functional scenic areas within the Nanshan Longevity Scenic Zone. It is only 12 kilometers from the Huashi and Jiangping exits of the Fangdong Expressway, with a direct secondary road leading to the site. Located within 30 kilometers of both Fangchenggang and Fangcheng urban areas, and just 21 kilometers from the border city Dongxing, the scenic area combines landscape features characterized as “lush greenery, serene atmosphere, unique rock formations, gentle charm, and beautiful scenery.” With its clear mountains, pristine waters, abundant forests, and spectacular waterfalls, Conghuanggou presents a naturally exquisite landscape. The scenic area is positioned as a comprehensive destination aiming for national 4A-level status, focusing on eco-tourism, leisure vacations, and water rafting.

The Conghuanggou Scenic Area was developed through investment and construction by Fangchenggang Lüshu Tourism Co., Ltd., which entered the area via investment attraction coordinated by the Fangchenggang Municipal Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. To date, approximately 21.5 million yuan has been invested, with a planned land area of around 1,500 mu, of which about 150 mu have been acquired. Currently, the scenic area has completed the construction of 10 relocation housing units, a 500-square-meter farmhouse inn, and a large 9,000-square-meter parking lot. A 2,000-square-meter wooden structure roofed with glazed tiles has been built to house a restaurant, visitor center, starting point rest area, endpoint changing room, ticket office, and more. The area also features a developed rafting project, including a 5-kilometer rafting river course, as well as facilities such as water-retaining dams, a starting dock, and an ending dock. Additionally, 500 meters of internal scenic roads have been constructed, along with 4 rest pavilions, 5 wooden leisure corridors covering 800 square meters, and 6 swimming pools. The Conghuanggou Scenic Area boasts comprehensive facilities, complete functions, and strong development potential, and will significantly boost the tourism industry in Nasuo Town.

In the next phase, the scenic area plans to continue developing new tourism projects and expanding operations while improving infrastructure. There are plans to build a 3-kilometer sightseeing trail, construct a four-star hot spring hotel, develop a water park and related supporting facilities, and establish the Conghuanggou Scenic Area as an ecological sightseeing park themed around golden camellia. Currently, the main challenges facing the scenic area are: first, the environmental protection permit has not yet been approved; second, land quotas have not been secured, making it difficult to proceed with further land acquisition; third, the relationship with the Golden Camellia Nature Reserve has not been properly coordinated; and fourth, financing channels remain limited.

Nasuo Town: Known as the “Hometown of Golden Camellia, the Queen of the Tea Family” and the hometown of the Ten Sisters — a national model group for learning from Lei Feng — Nasuo Town is located in the heart of the Shiwandashan Mountains, in the southwest of Fangcheng District, about 30 kilometers from the urban area. It borders Huashi Town to the east, Jiangping Town to the south, Nasiang Town and Malu Town to the west, and is separated by a mountain range from Dalu Town and Naqin Township to the north. National Highway 2021 runs through the town, making it a key hub for the trade of mountain and seafood products and a strategic passage for southwestern China to border areas.
