Wanggang Mountain

Part of the Shiwandashan Mountain Range, it is mainly located in the western part of Dazhi Town, Qinzhou, Guangxi, covering an area of 1,637 hectares. Wanggang Mountain features high and steep terrain, sheer cliffs, dense forests, and drifting clouds. Its rugged hills, lush woodlands, and quaint streams are its defining characteristics. There are 15 peaks in Wanggang Mountain with elevations over 800 meters, among which Dalong Mountain stands at 994.6 meters, making it the highest peak in Qinzhou City.

Sun Yat-sen once led an anti-Qing armed uprising here at Wanggang Mountain, and the people’s guerrilla forces under the leadership of our Party established a base here. The rugged mountains, rich forests, and quaint streams are the iconic landscapes of Wanggang Mountain. The highest peak, Dalong Mountain, rises 994.6 meters above sea level, making it the tallest in Qinzhou City. There are 15 peaks over 800 meters, including Wuzhi Peak, Wanggangtou, and Bijia Mountain, all characterized by precipitous cliffs, drifting clouds, and misty vistas. Pingxu, at an elevation of 800 meters, features flat terrain flanked by sheer cliffs on both sides, resembling a high-altitude plateau dotted with rocks and short alpine forests, creating a natural bonsai-like scene.

From the heights of Wanggang Mountain, one can gaze into the distance at the vast sea, with nearby cities faintly visible. Below, numerous mountain ridges converge, exuding timeless grandeur. The scenic area is filled with murmuring streams, crystal-clear waters, and visible fish. Verdant mountains frame emerald waters, complementing each other beautifully. The streams are flanked by dense forests and shaded by green trees, with exposed rocks, layered pools, and cascading waterfalls formed by water leaping over shallow shoals. In 1995, it was approved as a provincial-level forest park.

Qinzhou City has a long history. After the Qin Dynasty unified China, the area now known as Qinzhou was part of Xiang Commandery. During the Northern and Southern Dynasties and the Song Dynasty, it was part of Songshou Commandery, and during the Liang Dynasty, Anzhou was established. In the 18th year of the Kaihuang era of the Sui Dynasty (598 AD), Anzhou was renamed Qinzhou. During the Ming, Qing, and Republican periods, it belonged to Guangdong Province. In 1951, it was transferred to Guangxi Province, returned to Guangdong in 1955, and reverted to Guangxi in 1965. In June 1994, the State Council approved the dissolution of the Qinzhou Prefecture and the establishment of Qinzhou as a prefecture-level city.

Dazhi Town: Located at the foot of the Shiwandashan Mountains in the northwest of Qinnan District, Qinzhou, Dazhi Town is 32 kilometers from Qinzhou City. It lies at the intersection of the provincial highways from Nanning to Dongxing and from Qinzhou to Pingxiang. It borders Huangwutun Town to the east, Fangcheng County to the south, Guitai and Dasi Towns to the north, and Shangsi County to the west. The town covers a total area of 370.5 square kilometers, governs 22 village committees and one neighborhood committee, and has a population of over 80,000.
