Nanning Flower Park

Nanning Flower Park is a national public institution under the quota subsidy system affiliated with the Nanning Forestry and Gardens Bureau. Originally named Nanning Hebei Nursery, it was established in August 1958. In May 2009, with the approval of the Nanning Municipal People’s Government, it was reconstructed as Anji Flower Park; in May 2011, with the approval of the Nanning Municipal Organization Establishment Committee, it was renamed Nanning Flower Park. On January 25, 2013, the park officially opened to the public.

The park is located in the northwest of Nanning city, bordered by Anyang Road to the east, Tunlv Village to the west, Guangxi University Xingjian College of Science and Liberal Arts to the south, and Innovation Avenue to the north. It has a planned land area of 698.4 mu, of which 445.2 mu were developed and opened in the first phase, and 253.2 mu are under construction in the second phase. It is a municipal-level specialized park primarily focused on flower viewing and tourism, integrating science education, research, production, leisure, and fitness. It is also the first park in Nanning themed around “flowers.” The landscape planning of the park is summarized as “one core, two belts, and seven gardens,” namely the premium flower varieties viewing center, the aquatic flower landscape belt and the streamlined flower belt, as well as characteristic flower areas such as the Hundred Flowers Garden, Crape Myrtle Garden, Rose Garden, and Sappanwood Garden, creating a garden environment where “flowers bloom in all seasons and can be enjoyed at any time.” The most distinctive attraction in the flower park is the Suzhou-style classical garden architecture and the flower production exhibition area.

The Suzhou-style classical garden architecture in the park is the first group of southern-style classical buildings introduced to Nanning. It mainly consists of three sections: the landscape architecture of the park’s welcome square, the “Elegant Orchid Garden” on the east side of the park, and four scenic pavilions within the park. The main building, “Elegant Orchid Garden,” is composed of individual traditional Chinese structures such as Xuan (pavilion), Tang (hall), Lou (tower), Xie (pavilion), Lang (corridor), Ge (boat-like structure), Lang (corridor), and Ting (pavilion), all built using traditional craftsmanship. These are complemented by rockeries, small bridges over flowing water, pebble-paved paths, and an enclosed classical garden wall that creates a naturally connected and circuitous space, evoking the feeling of “a winding path leading to a secluded spot.”

The flower production exhibition area covers a total of 109 mu, including a 20,000-square-meter greenhouse for flower production. It produces and sells nearly 100 varieties of foliage plants, small potted plants, shade-loving plants, and mid- to high-end flowers year-round. In the flower supermarket of the exhibition area, horticulturists use seasonal flowers such as Paphiopedilum, Phalaenopsis, Bromeliads, Calla Lilies, and Anthurium to create a variety of exquisite potted plants and carefully arrange floral displays. Visitors can not only feast their eyes but also conveniently purchase a wide range of fresh flowers.
