Autumn and winter are the best times to visit Penghu—stomp through the Moses Parting the Sea path and tour old houses by ox cart

Starting from autumn, Taiwan’s outlying islands officially enter the off-season for tourism. From October 1 to December 20, the Penghu National Scenic Area Administration is launching the “Authentic Winter Tour—Explore Southern Ancient Houses and Stomp Northern Waves in One Day” in Nanliao and Beiliao in Huxi Township. Travelers can experience the most famous “Moses Parting the Sea” trail and stomp through the waves, as well as tour Nanliao by ox cart in one day.

The Penghu Administration stated that the “Authentic Winter Tour—Explore Southern Ancient Houses and Stomp Northern Waves in One Day” includes having participants follow the official Facebook page “Kenting Joyful Tours,” upload and share personal photos on the S-shaped trail between Guibi Mountain and Chi Islet in Beiliao, and leave comments to receive a “Moses Parting the Sea Trail Certificate.” Meanwhile, the southern countryside deep-experience tour includes activities such as sweet potato roasting, ox cart rides around Nanliao, visiting cow dung pits, T-jing mortars, experiencing the T-shi pit, and more. A group can be formed with just 10 people, at just NT$50 per person. After learning the traditional Penghu method of tying a face-covering scarf, visitors will receive a souvenir scarf (including a towel). This activity can be registered via the Penghu Administration’s official website, while other options and fees can be arranged through the Nanliao Community Development Association.
