The Elephant Trunk Mountain Cave in Dingdun Village is located about 5 kilometers from the Dingdun Village Committee. Its shape resembles an elephant foraging in a field, hence the name "Elephant Trunk Mountain." Inside the mountain lies a large cave filled with stalactites, stalagmites, stone curtains, and stone pillars. Over hundreds of millions of years of natural processes, the cave has formed delicate and uniquely shaped landscapes. Stepping inside feels like entering another enchanting world, with one cave leading to another through interconnected passages. Looking up, the stone curtains resemble a peacock spreading its tail, while the stalactite-formed stone flows look like a galaxy cascading from the heavens. Looking down, you can see a murmuring stream flowing along the cave floor, which keeps the cave cool in summer and warm in winter. You can climb up step by step along the stone stairs; some parts require you to sidle along the walls, while others are flat and spacious enough to host meetings. The cave’s wonders never cease to amaze. There are also four artificially built sky bridges inside the cave, which are truly breathtaking.

According to the village secretary of Dingdun, the person who developed this Elephant Trunk Cave is a local elderly man named Liang Shusen. Now 76 years old, he lived in the cave for over 20 years while excavating it. This is the real-life version of “The Foolish Old Man Who Removed the Mountains”! The spirit of this elderly farmer is truly admirable. Seeing the result today only deepens one’s respect.
