Nestled within the bustling urban area of Zhongyao Road in Nanning, Guangxi, stands the Huang Family Courtyard, a traditional southern-style residence characterized by its blue bricks and dark tiles. According to records, the Huang Family Courtyard was built in the 10th year of the Kangxi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1671 AD), boasting a history of over 300 years. The entire complex covers an area of approximately 3,300 square meters, comprising a total of 108 rooms of various sizes, all constructed with brick and wood, featuring flush gable roofs. It is currently the best-preserved Qing Dynasty residential building among the ancient dwellings in downtown Nanning. The Huang Family Courtyard represents a legacy of wealth accumulated by the Huang family through their hard work for future generations. Today, the Huang descendants have moved out, leaving many rooms vacant. Although the courtyard no longer shines in its former glory—with thick moss creeping up the brick walls and the bluestone paths now uneven—it offers a serene contrast to the nearby busy city center. Visitors who come here can experience a nostalgic sense of traveling back in time.
