Introduction The Devonian System Section in Liujing is situated near Liujing Town in the northwest of Heng County, about 50 kilometers from Nanning, the capital of the autonomous region. It is a well-known Devonian System stratotype section in China and also recognized internationally. The section starts at Xiayi Mountain to the north of Liujing Town, proceeds south through the train station, then turns southeast toward Gubi Village and Nazu Village, spanning a total length of about 3.5 kilometers. The stratotype section includes both deep-water facies and shallow-water facies of the Devonian System, representing two distinct types. The Liujing section uniquely features both marine Devonian sedimentary types, serving as a crucial stratigraphic bridge between the deep-water and shallow-water Devonian formations in the region. It plays a significant role in scientific research, education, and international academic exchange. In recent years, due to its rich content, clear geological features, short profile line, and convenient transportation, it has become a popular site for geological students’ field training and for public geological education. It is also an ideal location for research in fundamental geological disciplines such as paleontology, stratigraphy, sedimentary facies studies, and paleoecology.
