This trend of "travel bragging" (#TravelBrag) on social media aligns with the latest mobile travel survey released by a leading hotel booking platform. The report indicates that travelers are spending an increasing amount of time on their phones during trips. On average, people in Taiwan spend 3.5 hours per day on their phones while traveling—significantly higher than the global average of 2.7 hours. Moreover, over half of travelers prioritize the “social potential” of a city or attraction when choosing a destination, highlighting the growing influence of social media on travel decisions.

Beyond sharing travel hotspots and hipster itineraries, the #TravelBrag survey also reveals that vacationers are more enthusiastic than ever about sharing food, weather, and other aspects of their trips, helping others discover the multifaceted character of a city.

Food Highlights─
Globally, food is a key highlight in travel posts. In Stockholm, cake is a must-try, in Toronto it’s curry, and in New York, steak and pizza can’t be missed. Hong Kong’s iconic floating restaurant, Jumbo Kingdom, ranks second among social media posts by visitors to the city. With the rise of unique cafés in Taipei’s backstreets, travelers’ favorite food spot to check in has become cafés, putting Taipei’s coffee culture in the spotlight on global social media.
