A social media trend of “travel bragging” (#TravelBrag) is resonating with the latest findings from a mobile travel survey released by a well-known hotel booking platform. The report indicates that travelers are spending an increasing amount of time on their phones during trips, with people in Taiwan averaging 3.5 hours of mobile use per day while traveling — significantly higher than the global average of 2.7 hours. Moreover, over half of travelers in Taiwan prioritize the “social potential” of a destination or attraction when choosing where to go, highlighting the significant influence of social media in shaping travel decisions.
In addition to sharing travel hotspots and cultural itineraries, the “Travel Brag” (#TravelBrag) survey also found that travelers are more enthusiastic than ever about sharing food, weather, and other experiences, helping others discover different facets of a city’s character.

Hong Kong’s iconic floating restaurant — Jumbo Kingdom — even ranks as the second most shared spot on social media among visitors to the city. With a growing number of unique cafés popping up in Taipei’s backstreets, the city’s most popular food photo spot among travelers has become its cafés, putting Taipei’s coffee culture in the spotlight on global social feeds.
