Explore Kaohsiung for Just $100 and Immerse Yourself in Hakka Culture
Kaohsiung, a city that combines water, light, and artistic elements, not only has a distinctive harbor vibe, but the Kaohsiung City Government has also used art, light sculptures, and eco-friendly living concepts to enhance the city’s appeal. Meanwhile, the city’s Hakka Affairs Commission is actively promoting the new Hakka element “Ye He” (Night Harmony). In coordination with the newly completed “Kaohsiung New Hakka Cultural Park,” which is set to become a new tourism attraction highlighting the city’s multicultural values, the exciting “Ye He Hakka Cultural Arts Festival” is now offering a special $100 one-day tour to Ye He in Kaohsiung. With just a single bill, you can experience the Hakka culture of southern Taiwan.

The $100 Kaohsiung Ye He Hakka experience tour currently has scheduled departure dates and batches on June 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, and 25, with a total of six groups. Tours will depart with a minimum of 30 participants. The itinerary begins in Taichung, while residents of Kaohsiung can meet up at the Hakka Cultural Museum on their own. In addition to visiting the Kaohsiung Hakka Cultural Museum, participants will explore the city’s art and cultural zones such as the Film Library and Pier-2 Art Center. Bicycle rentals are available for an additional fee to cruise along well-planned cycling paths, offering a chance to feel the summer vibrancy of Greater Kaohsiung as well as participate in the Ye He Hakka Cultural Arts activities.
The “2010 Ye He Hakka Cultural Arts Festival” will hold the “Ye He Hakka Cuisine Cooking Finals” on the morning of June 19 at the Kaohsiung Hospitality College, where the top 10 winners from both the student and general public categories will compete fiercely. On June 26, a music evening will take place at the Kaohsiung New Hakka Cultural Park. Participants who sign up for the “Thousand-Person Hakka Mountain Song Singing” event will receive a Ye He CD and enjoy complimentary Hakka rice and tea. The activity includes a variety of performances and booths, such as fortune-telling, calligraphy, free drinks, handmade crafts, Hakka clothing try-ons, and many other interactive experiences.

The Ye He Hakka experience in Kaohsiung is subsidized with a special grant of $300. Originally priced at $400, it is now available for just $100.
