Guangxi Library

The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Library is the largest comprehensive provincial-level public library in Guangxi. It serves as the Guangxi branch center of the National Cultural Information Resources Sharing Project and the Guangxi Ancient Books Conservation Center, and is a key national and regional institution for the protection of ancient books.

Established in 1931, the Guangxi Library covers a total floor area of 33,376 square meters and consists of two parts: the main building on Minzu Avenue and the branch at People’s Park. It includes 12 departments: the Office, Human Resources & Education Department, Finance Department, Administrative Department, Lending Department, Periodicals Department, Information Services Department, Local Literature Department, Research & Guidance Department, Network Data Center, Acquisition & Cataloging Center, and Children’s Department (Children’s Branch). The library collects, preserves, and organizes literature and information to disseminate knowledge and pass on civilization. It currently houses a collection of over 3.5 million volumes and 90TB of digital resources. The library has 17 reading rooms covering books, periodicals, audiovisual materials, electronic resources, and children’s materials, as well as 1,550 reading seats. It provides services such as lending and reading of books and periodicals, reading guidance, reference consultation, information delivery, and education and training. It plays an important role in safeguarding citizens’ basic cultural rights and meeting the basic cultural needs of the people.
