Old Park Area
Located at the southern end of Yongjiang Bridge, this area covers 3.95 hectares. Construction began in 1983, and it was completed and opened to the public in 1986. Major attractions included the Flying Waterfall Welcoming Spring, Arc Corridor Fountain, Flower and Bird Pavilion, and Mother and Child Lake. In 2005, due to the road expansion of Xingguang Avenue and Jiangnan Avenue, attractions such as the Arc Corridor Fountain and Flower and Bird Pavilion were demolished.
New Park Area
Bordered by Jiangnan Avenue’s river dike to the south, extending to the Yongjiang Riverbank to the north, starting from Beida Bridge in the west to Taoyuan Bridge in the east, the park is distributed in a strip shape. Centered around Yongjiang Bridge, it is divided into eastern and western sections, stretching approximately 1.45 kilometers in total length, with a maximum width of 150 meters from north to south and a minimum of 20 meters. The eastern section covers 7.9 hectares, the western section 8.12 hectares, making a total area of 16.02 hectares. It was developed in two phases, with Phase I and Phase II completed and opened to the public free of charge in May 2003 and October 2010 respectively. Its landscape design fully integrates the existing terrain and unique geographical location, creating a waterfront scenic belt that combines leisure, amusement, fitness, and sightseeing. Key attractions include the Gate of Antiquity, Galaxy Pathway, Children’s Amusement Park, Wind-Swept Sculpture, Dan Song Garden, Eternal Memory Sculpture, Water Drop Stone Plaza, Shade Square, and Drunken Moon Pavilion.
The park’s greenery mainly features subtropical palm species such as King Palm, Bismarck Palm, Canary Island Date Palm, Cycas, Golden Cane Palm, and False Areca Palm; native tree species in their natural forms such as Almond Tree, Ficus microcarpa, Bischofia javanica, Terminalia mantaly, and Camphor Tree; as well as shaped plants like Tower Ficus, Bougainvillea, and Camellia. Key nodal areas are accentuated with flowering trees and shrubs such as Flamboyant Tree, Silk Floss Tree, Flame Tree, Red and Yellow Bell Tree, Large Flower Jacaranda, Small Flower Jacaranda, and Bauhinia, creating a lush year-round, flower-blooming three-seasons Southern landscape. It is a top choice for locals and tourists to take strolls, enjoy recreation, or exercise in the morning or evening.
