Seoul’s Popular New Attraction: A Library with a Stunning 13-Meter Book Wall

With the Korean Wave sweeping across the globe, South Korea has become one of Asia’s top tourist destinations. Recently, a brand-new cultural space has emerged in downtown Seoul—the STARFIELD LIBRARY located within COEX MALL. This two-story library covers a total area of 847 pyeong and houses over 50,000 books and magazines. Among its most eye-catching features are three massive book walls, each towering 13 meters high. Since its opening, it has attracted numerous visitors and quickly become a popular photo spot.

The STARFIELD LIBRARY is an open-access facility available to everyone free of charge. In addition to tens of thousands of books and magazines, it also offers a cutting-edge digital book system. The library is furnished with various seating options including sofas and desks to provide visitors with a comfortable place for reading or relaxation. Each month, the library hosts themed cultural events on different days. In June, weekly themes include: poetry on Mondays, travel on Tuesdays, books on Wednesdays, art and books on Thursdays, celebrity guest lectures on Fridays, children’s entertainment on Saturdays, and classical music performances on Sundays. Each day features well-known figures from various fields—including poets, pianists, writers, travel writers, and columnists—who deliver high-quality free lectures and performances for visitors.
