The South Korean actor Song Joong-ki, who rose to fame through the 2016 hit drama Descendants of the Sun, became a highly recognized celebrity across Asia. In addition to being the tourism ambassador for Korea, in July 2017 he was reported to be getting married to his co-star Song Hye-kyo from the same drama. In August, the movie Battleship Island was released and achieved huge box office success, maintaining his high popularity and ongoing public discussion. On September 19, Song Joong-ki’s birthday, fans organized a special bus parade to celebrate and support him. Fans traveling to Korea in the near future might want to keep an eye out for this special bus.

In the past, at bus stop lightboxes in Taipei, Taiwan, the Korea Tourism Organization also set up multiple Song Joong-ki tourism promotional visuals, concentrated along the Tunhua North and South Roads. At 43 stops, a total of 82 lightboxes featured Song Joong-ki, and many fans interested in Korean travel said that having a popular celebrity as the tourism ambassador really helps draw attention and boost the willingness to visit Korea.
