Huomai Eco Village

Huomai Eco Village is located in the western part of Tongle Town, Leye County, about 8 kilometers from the county seat. The area has a high altitude, well-preserved natural vegetation, and enjoys a mild climate that is warm in winter and cool in summer, with an average annual temperature of only 14.5°C. The villagers all bear the surname Zou, comprising 53 households and 402 people. They migrated here from Yuqing County, Zunyi City, Guizhou Province during the Qing Dynasty, and have lived here for over 200 years. The village retains a uniquely distinctive natural ecology as well as simple and elegant folk customs such as fabric dyeing, incense making, and papermaking. Its wooden houses are uniquely structured. Nearby attractions include the Dacao Tiankeng, the world’s second-largest cave chamber—Hongmei Hall—as well as karst landscapes like Feihu Cave, Laohu Cave, and Mihun Cave. From Guanyin Mountain to the southeast, visitors can watch the sunrise rise above the vast sea of clouds. It is a green gem among the many attractions in the development of the Dashiwei Tiankeng Group for eco-tourism, and makes for a great destination for sightseeing, leisure, vacation, and adventure.
