Liuzhou People's Square

Liuzhou People's Square is located in the urban district of Liuzhou. Situated along the central axis of the city’s main thoroughfare, it covers an area of 6 hectares and is a square that combines a musical fountain, landscaped greenery, and urban sculptures.

The square was reconstructed in 1951 on the site of the former "Beijiaochang," and after large-scale expansion from 1986 to 1988, it achieved its current scale.

The southern part of the square features a musical fountain, which consists of a high jet platform and a low jet pool, covering a total area of 1,430 square meters. The pool houses 950 nozzles and 313 colored underwater lights that combine to create 21 different water patterns. When night falls and the lights come on, the nozzles activate in sequence, weaving a vibrant and colorful spectacle, earning it the nickname “Colorful Fountain in Harmony.” It is listed as one of the New Eight Scenic Spots of Liuzhou.

The northern part of the square is covered with landscaped greenery, spanning a total of 2 hectares. The green space features trees providing dense shade, shrubs in various artistic shapes, lush lawns, and strikingly shaped landscape stones, all embodying the classic characteristics of southern Chinese gardens. At the center of the square stands a large urban sculpture—“Gate of the Century.” Two towering granite pillars support a soaring golden dragon, symbolizing the Dragon City and representing the ambitious and enterprising spirit of its people. Liuzhou People's Square has now become an important site for locals to exercise in the morning and for leisure activities. On major holidays, solemn flag-raising ceremonies and various events are held here, making it a central hub for the city’s political activities.
