Wanyou National Forest Park is a national-level forest park.

Guangdong Wanyou National Forest Park is a state-level park approved by the central government, primarily focused on forest tourism. It features multiple functions including tourism, vacationing, breeding, processing, and real estate development, and is part of China’s international forest tourism industry. Once completed, the park will be open to both domestic and international visitors.

The park is situated in the eastern urban area of Gaoyao City, facing the Xijiang River and overlooking the famous tourist city of Zhaoqing across the river. Covering an area of 6,477 mu, the park boasts abundant tourism resources. It already has over 4,000 mu of pine forests and more than 2,000 mu of broadleaf forests, forming a multi-layered tree canopy that is lush and diverse in form. There is also an artificial lake covering over 400 mu with mirror-like waters. Shady bamboo paths line the lakeside, boats glide across the water, while birds sing and insects chirp in the mountains—offering visitors a return to nature and evoking a sense of tranquility and inspiration with thoughts such as “mountains bring boundless rustic charm.” The scenery refreshes the mind and lifts the spirit. Highlights also include the majestic Fengding Peak, the winding and dynamic Xiangshan Mountain, the vividly outlined 0, the Nanshe serpent playing by the lake, the geomantically auspicious site of Jiuzi Lian Deng, the mighty Xijiang River surging from the west and crashing against the eastern shore, as well as eight emerging scenic spots: Pine Waves at Turtle Mountain, Boating on Sha Lake, Green Views at Wanyou, Picnicking on Golden Beach, and the Tower Piercing the Sky. Other spots include Night Views of the Ancient City, Fishing Fires at the Riverside Tower, and Sunset Fishing. With slight enhancements following the mountain’s contours and forms, these sites will become even more dazzling and attractive to visitors.

The park enjoys excellent transportation links. The Jiangkou Bridge and Xijiang Bridge connect the park with downtown Gaoyao and Zhaoqing City. Provincial Highway Zhaojiang runs through the entire area, linking eastward to the Pearl River Delta and southward directly to Zhuhai City and the “Five Counties” overseas Chinese hometowns. Railway access enables travel to all parts of the country. Zhaoqing and Gaoyao have established ports and passenger terminals, offering boat services directly to Hong Kong, Macau, and other destinations within the province. The under-construction Zhaoqing Airport is about 15 kilometers from the park and, once operational, will launch initial flights to cities such as Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Guangzhou, and Hainan Province.

The park’s development is functionally divided into a tourism and vacation zone, amusement zone, real estate zone, rare animals and plants cultivation zone, hunting ground, non-polluting industrial processing zone, and commercial service center. Additional attractions have been specially designed, including Love Valley, Shade Valley, Peach Blossom Spring, the “Big Birdcage,” Water Park, and Fishing Platform. Upon completion, the park will truly become the “Pearl of the Xijiang River” and a highlight along Zhaoqing’s popular travel route.
