Every September, the rice in the terraces of Gaoyao Miao Village in Danzhai County ripens gradually. The layered fields, with their interplay of yellow and green, create a picturesque scene that attracts many photography enthusiasts.

From a distance, the terraces present a dazzling golden-yellow view—spectacular and enchanting—that draws numerous domestic and international tourists for sightseeing.

Gaoyao Terraces are located beside National Highway 321, southwest of Gaoyao Village, Danzhai County, Guizhou Province. Over a thousand acres of terraces follow the mountain’s contours, stretching from the base to the summit in layers, resembling beautiful Miao sashes that embellish the grand mountains. Additionally, the ongoing “Colorful Gaoyao Terraces” agricultural tourism project takes advantage of the terraces’ unique conditions by planting a variety of colorful crops according to the seasons, using earth art to create a one-of-a-kind “Colorful Gaoyao Terraces” spectacle in China—a true masterpiece.
