Chatang Ancient Village

Chatang Ancient Village is situated at the northeastern foot of Xianglu Hill, north of Huilong Town. The village consists of 83 households with a total population of 303 people. It is a renowned overseas Chinese village, founded in the 22nd year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1896) and boasts a history of more than 100 years. The villagers are all descendants of the Su and Cai clans who moved here from Licha Village, an ancient Confucian cultural settlement characterized by its “nine-li-one-courtyard” layout. Chatang Village is a typical Guangfu-style village, featuring a practical, aesthetically pleasing, and orderly layout with profound cultural heritage. In 2012, it was honored as a “Famous Historical and Cultural Village of Guangdong Province.”
