Tomb of Fang Dun

The Tomb of Fang Dun is a cultural relic protection unit of Yueyang City.

The Tomb of Fang Dun is located on Luosi Mountain in Yueyang City’s South Lake, facing Sanyan Bridge across the water. The mountain stands about 30 meters high and covers a total area of approximately 2,500 square meters. Fang Dun (1488–1577), courtesy name Zhongmin, style name Lian’an, was a native of Baliang County during the Ming Dynasty. He passed the imperial examination in the Gengchen year of the Zhengde era, initially served as magistrate of Huating County, then transferred to Neihuang, and later became an imperial censor. During the Jiajing era, he was promoted to Minister of Revenue. As an official, he impeached others without regard for personal relations and remained in office for seven years without any corruption charges. After retiring, he built the Zijings and Fengqiao dikes and repaired Sanyan Bridge, benefiting his hometown. He passed away in Yueyang in the Dingchou year of the Wanli era and was buried here. Parts of the tomb were damaged in the 1960s.

On January 18, 2004, the People's Government of Yueyang City designated it as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit.

Protected area: the entire Luosi Mountain summit.

Construction control zone: extending 100 meters outward from the boundary of the protected area in all four directions.
