Bai Zhu Wu Family Manor

The Bai Zhu Wu Family Manor is a cultural relic protection unit of Hubei Province.

Wu Family Manor

Located in Bai Zhu Village, Xiemǎ Town, Baokang County. It is a Qing Dynasty–era structure. Facing south and situated on a north-south axis, the manor stretches 45 meters from east to west and 35 meters from north to south. Built with a brick-and-wood structure and laid out in a traditional courtyard style, it consists of a gate tower, official hall, flower hall, reception hall, theater stage, and wing rooms. The eminent Chinese proletarian revolutionary Wu Defeng was born here and spent his childhood and youth. Wu Defeng (1896–1976) served as the Director of the Political Security Bureau of the Second Front Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army during the Long March, and after the liberation, he was once the Mayor of Wuhan. Bai Zhu Village: Bai Zhu Village is located in the southwest of Xiemǎ Town, 23 kilometers from the town center, covering an area of 12.42 square kilometers, with an average elevation of 1,100 meters. The village administers 5 villager groups, has 237 households, and a population of 848. It currently has 3 branch members and 28 party members. In 2014, the village’s fixed assets reached 100 million yuan, agricultural output value exceeded 13 million yuan, the village collective economy net income was 100,000 yuan, and the per capita income of farmers was 7,300 yuan.
