The remains of Zhaijia Ancient City are a cultural relic protection unit of Hubei Province.

Remains of Zhaijia Ancient City

Located in Zhaijia Ancient City Village, Caiyang Township, Zaoyang City, this is a site from the Warring States and Han periods, covering an area of approximately 800,000 square meters. In the western part of the site, remnants of a rammed-earth city wall about 250 meters long can still be found. The wall is about 16 meters wide and 1–2.5 meters high. Collected pottery fragments from the Warring States period include parts such as tripod and li (tripod cauldron) feet made of coarse red pottery, as well as stems of dou (food vessels) made of gray clay pottery; Han dynasty pottery fragments are mainly made of gray clay, with a small amount of black clay. Decorative patterns include string patterns, incised lines, and stamped impressions. Artifact shapes include jars, basins, urns, as well as tube tiles, flat tiles, and tile ends. (Third Batch)
