Nangxiang Site

The Nangxiang Site is a protected cultural heritage site of Hubei Province.

Nangxiang Site

Located in Lupo Village, Juxuan Town, Zaoyang City, this is a site from the Neolithic Age and the Zhou Dynasty. It lies on an earthen mound along the northern bank of the Gong River, sloping from north to south. The site is 400 meters long from north to south and 200 meters wide from east to west, covering an area of about 80,000 square meters, with a cultural layer approximately 1.3 meters thick. The collected relics consist entirely of pottery shards, including both clay pottery and sandy clay pottery, mainly in red and gray, occasionally brown, with decorations such as pit marks, appliqué ridges, cord marks, and a small number of string patterns. Identifiable vessel shapes include tripods, cauldrons, bean pots, and jars. The site is relatively well-preserved, rich in content, and holds significant academic value.
