Wenfo Mountain, also known as Kuangfu Mountain or Jizhao Mountain, is described as “a fusion of history and nature, and a blend of the religious and the secular.” It serves as a multifunctional eco-tourism destination for sightseeing, leisure and summer retreats, field photography, recreational fitness, resource exploration, and experiencing local customs and folk culture.

The scenic area is situated in Lianpeng Township, Dianjun District, on the southern bank of Yichang City. It lies 15 kilometers from the Yiling Yangtze River Bridge. The area is divided into a cave district, a forest and tea district, a Buddhist cultural zone, and a Daxi River Valley corridor, covering a total area of 30 square kilometers.

The ancient Wenfo Temple originated in the Tang Dynasty, flourished in the Ming Dynasty, and reached its peak in the Qing Dynasty. For centuries, it has attracted a constant stream of pilgrims and enjoyed widespread renown for its thriving Buddhist activity, earning the reputation of “Wenfo Fairy Mountain.” Wenfo Manor offers farmhouse-style lodging, while Liujiachang Resort, set against a backdrop of towering mountains and framed by ancient pines and willows, allows visitors to enjoy home-cooked rural meals and stay in cozy wooden cabins, providing an experience of returning to simplicity and enjoying leisurely tranquility.

Lianpeng Township: A township under the jurisdiction of Dianjun District, Yichang City. In 1952, Wulong Township and Shipan Township were established; in 1958, they were renamed Lianpeng Commune and Changling Commune respectively; in 1984, Lianpeng Township and Changling Township were formed; in 1987, the two townships merged to become Lianpeng Township. Located south of the Yangtze River, it covers an area of 120 square kilometers with a population of 12,000. National Highway 318 runs through the township.
