Epipremnum Aureum Botanical Garden

The Epipremnum Aureum Botanical Garden is the only public green space in downtown Yichang that specializes in plant science education. It integrates plant ecology, science popularization, sightseeing, and leisure, covering a total area of 43,000 square meters. In 1999, it was included in the first batch of permanently protected urban public green spaces in the city, and it was officially completed and opened to the public in October 2000.

The garden currently houses over 400 varieties of rare plants, including several under national first-, second-, and third-level protection such as metasequoia, dove tree, ginkgo, golden larch, tulip tree, and horse chestnut. Each plant is labeled for easy identification. To help visitors learn more about botany, the garden also features a herbarium showcasing 312 species and over 1,000 specimens of rare wild plants from the Three Gorges region.

Based on different plant varieties and characteristics, the entire garden is divided into four functional areas: the Famous Flowers Garden, the Introduction and Domestication Garden, the Aquatic Plant Viewing Garden, and the Bonsai Garden, each with its own unique features. The Famous Flowers Garden mainly displays precious flowering plants such as plum blossoms, purple magnolia, and peonies; the Introduction and Domestication Garden features rare plants from the Three Gorges region such as smoketree, torreya, and Yichang machilus; the Aquatic Plant Garden includes introduced species such as lotus, water lily, and cypress grass, along with various ornamental fish; the Bonsai Garden uses unique tree species from the Three Gorges area as materials, emphasizing pruning and shaping artistry to create its own distinctive style.

Additionally, the botanical garden is equipped with scenic pavilions, leisure plazas, stone benches, and stone tables. Strolling through the garden allows visitors to enjoy the lush plant scenery of an urban forest while experiencing the various leisure functions of a modern park.

Through the passage of time, the ancient desolation of moss and green vines has given way to vibrant blooms. The Epipremnum Aureum Botanical Garden welcomes every visitor with its diverse array of trees and flowers that bloom in all seasons.
