Yichang Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

Yichang Martyrs' Cemetery (also known as Yichang Dongshan Park) is situated on the summit of Dongshan Mountain, at an altitude of 128 meters, and spans an area of 210,000 square meters. It is a fully funded preferential treatment institution under the Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau. To honor the martyrs and educate future generations, the Yichang Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government constructed the Revolutionary Martyrs Monument in 1973, and established the Yichang Martyrs' Cemetery Management Office in 1981. It is the city’s largest base for revolutionary tradition education and patriotic education, one of the first permanently protected public green spaces designated by Yichang, and was approved by the State Council in 2009 as a National Key Martyrs’ Memorial Building Protection Unit.

The cemetery is divided into two functional areas: the Red Memorial Area and the Eco-Leisure Area. The Memorial Area is solemn and serene, shaded by lush pines and cypresses. It currently features nine memorial structures, including the Yichang Revolutionary Martyrs Monument, the Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall, the Memorial Square, the Audio-Visual Classroom, the Hall of Heroes, the Monument to General Zhang Zizhong, the Inscription Gallery, and the Jing Chengxiu Statue Square, with a total construction area of nearly 10,000 square meters. Through texts, photos, videos, artifacts, reliefs, and other forms, the site comprehensively presents the revolutionary history of Yichang and reflects the great spirit of the heroic people of Yichang who fought bravely and made sacrifices for national independence, liberation, and the victory of the New Democratic Revolution. Over the past thirty years of development, the cemetery has welcomed nearly 500,000 visitors annually with its rich historical resources, beautiful environment, and high-quality services, fully embodying its core mission of “honoring the martyrs and educating future generations.”

The Eco-Leisure Area features picturesque landscapes with mountains and waters in harmony, shaded by lush trees, and adorned with pavilions and terraces, offering a pleasant scenery. The park is home to over 20 types of native tree species, with a green coverage rate of 85%, and is hailed by residents as the “city’s green lung.” It includes 18 landscape features such as the Lake Center Pavilion, Hexagonal Pavilion, and Square Pavilion, covering 6,711 square meters, an artificial lake spanning 9,923 square meters, 18 mountain paths, lakeside trails, and ring roads totaling 5,798 meters in length, as well as 1,797 square meters of service buildings. It serves as an important venue for local residents to cultivate their sentiments and enjoy leisure activities.
