The Lüwangcheng Site is a cultural heritage site protected by Hubei Province.

Lüwangcheng Site

Located in Lüwang Town, Dawu County, the Lüwangcheng Site dates back to the Neolithic Age, Western Zhou, Spring and Autumn, and Warring States periods. It covers an area of approximately 750,000 square meters, with a cultural layer ranging from 0.6 to 4.5 meters in thickness. Artifacts collected at the site include stone axes, adzes, arrowheads, bronze arrowheads, belt hooks, ant nose coins, iron fragments, and pottery shards. The Neolithic pottery is predominantly gray clay pottery, followed by red clay pottery, with small amounts of black clay pottery and sand-tempered gray pottery; decorations include string patterns, basket weaves, checkered patterns, as well as perforations and painted designs; vessel types include tripods, jars, cups, beans (dou), plates, lids, vats, and spinning whorls; these belong to the Qujialing Culture. The Western Zhou pottery is mainly sand-tempered reddish-brown pottery, with small amounts of sand-tempered and clay gray pottery; decorations include cord marks, string patterns, and appliqué ridges; vessel types include li tripods, bowls, jars, urns, beans, and basins. The Spring and Autumn pottery is mostly gray clay pottery, with some reddish-brown clay pottery and sand-tempered gray pottery; decorations are primarily cord marks; vessel types include li tripods, basins, basins, plates, beans, bowls, cups, urns, and pottery paddles. The Warring States pottery is mainly gray clay pottery, with some reddish-brown clay pottery; decorations include cord marks and string patterns; vessel types include li tripods, jars, urns, basins, bowls, beans, as well as cylindrical tiles and flat tiles.
