Cat lovers’ favorite drink in Tainan: “Cat Slave Milk Tea” that tastes distinctly of catnip

Catnip emits an irresistible scent to cats, making it especially beloved by felines. As a devoted cat lover, have you ever wondered what catnip actually tastes like? A business in Tainan has recently launched“Cat Slave Milk Tea”, boldly adding catnip to their milk tea and serving it in cat-shaped containers—inside and out, it’s packed with “cat vibes” that any cat lover simply can’t resist.

Tainan-based beverage shop Edison's tea shop, which previously introduced milk teas in light bulb, skull, and mini barrel packaging, has now rolled out a new flavor and design: “Cat Slave Milk Tea.” The shop explained that since the owners are also cat lovers, they were curious about what catnip tastes like. After many trials, they used organic, non-toxic catnip grown by the Puli-based business Forest Has a Plot from Nantou County, finally crafting this uniquely flavored milk tea that lets you take one sip and suddenly realize, “So this is what catnip tastes like!”

The shop further explainedthat the taste of Cat Slave Milk Tea is similar to mint milk tea, but because the flavor of catnip is strong yet lacks a cooling sensation, they added fresh mint leaves along with a bit of spearmint and peppermint to enhance the coolness. To pair with the Cat Slave Milk Tea, Edison's tea shop has also introduced four styles of cat-shaped liquor bottles—white cat, black-and-white cat, yellow-eyed black cat, and blue-eyed black cat—set to go on sale in June.
