Yangxin County Museum

The Yangxin County Museum is located at the eastern end of the overpass in the center of the county town, on the north side of Lingyuan Avenue, adjacent to the Southeast Hubei Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery in the east. It covers an area of 1,086 m². The museum is surrounded by lush trees and boasts a serene environment. In 1986, Wang Renzhong, former Secretary of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, inscribed the museum’s name.

The museum was built in May 1978 as a comprehensive history museum, housing over 3,000 historical and revolutionary relics. The historical relics are mainly excavated artifacts from within Yangxin County, including jade and stone tools, ceramics, gold and silverware, bronze and ironware, paper and wooden objects, etc. Among them are a three-hole stone knife and single/double-hole stone spades from the Neolithic Age; bronze naos from the Shang and Zhou dynasties; bronze tripods, roof tiles, and gui vessels from the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods; ceramics and bronze mirrors from the Tang Dynasty; carved ceramics from the Song Dynasty; and precious items from the Ming and Qing dynasties such as golden dragons, silver vases, silver kettles, silver hairpins, and silver combs. The revolutionary relics mainly consist of weapons from the first and second domestic revolutionary wars, such as broadswords, spears, double-barreled homemade guns, landmines, and horse-tail bullets; the seal of the Eighth Township Soviet Government of the Thirteenth District of Yangxin County; the seal of the Executive Committee of the Communist Party of China Yangxin County Jinnong District Committee in Hubei Province; notices issued by the Executive Committee of the Yangxin County Soviet Government; banknotes and deposit slips from the Southeast Hubei Workers’ and Peasants’ Bank; publications printed by the Soviet government; as well as the tombstones and personal belongings of nine martyrs who bravely sacrificed their lives during the “2·27” tragedy in Yangxin County in 1927. These precious relics and cultural remains truly reflect the long history and glorious revolutionary traditions of Yangxin County.
