Chigouzhai Site

The Chigouzhai Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhengzhou City.

The Chigouzhai Site is located 400 meters north of Beimagou Administrative Village, Gao Village Township, Xingyang City. The site is situated on a prominent elevated terrace in the mountains, divided into southern and northern sections, with the northern part higher and smaller than the southern. The southern terrace, which boasts the richest cultural remains, is surrounded by several segments of late-period fortress walls. On the eastern, western, and southern cliffs are distributed pottery kilns, ash pits, and cultural layers. The deepest of the ash pits reaches 4 meters, while the cultural layers are generally 2–3 meters thick and contain abundant artifacts such as pottery shards, bone fragments, red-fired earth chunks, and clam shells. Identifiable artifacts include jars, urns, and double-bellied basins.
