The Ancestral Temple of the Qin Family

The Ancestral Temple of the Qin Family is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhengzhou City.

The Ancestral Temple of the Qin Family is located to the east of Youfang Village, Gao Village Township, Xingyang City. It is a two-courtyard quadrangle dwelling facing south with a north orientation, consisting of seven buildings. All structures are made of brick and wood in a flush-gable style. The front courtyard has single-story buildings, while the rear courtyard features a three-story main building and two-story side buildings. It was built in the 24th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1759) by Qin Gong, and later converted into the village’s ancestral temple until 1950. During the Republican era, it had been used as a full elementary school, as well as for cotton and food processing factories. In the 1990s, it was restored as the Ancestral Temple of the Qin Family. The compound is well laid out, structurally intact, relatively large in scale, and well preserved, making it one of the more distinctive and significant historic residential buildings still in existence.
