Suzhai Residential Complex

The Suzhai Residential Complex is a cultural heritage site protected by Zhengzhou City.

The Suzhai Residential Complex is located in Suzhai Village, Guangwu Town, Xingyang City. The compound faces west and sits to the east. The main hall (passageway) in the front courtyard is five bays wide and one bay deep, standing 7 meters tall. There is one wing room in the north side of the front courtyard. The main building in the back courtyard is three bays wide and one bay deep, has three floors, and is approximately 13 meters high. Diagonally opposite is the Su Family Ancestral Temple, which faces east and sits to the west. It is composed of four flush-gable style buildings: the main hall, south room, north room, and a reverse-facing structure (including the gate tower). The entrance is located at the northeast corner, and above the door hangs a plaque inscribed with the four characters “颍滨苗胤” (referring to Su Zhe, who was also known as “颍滨遗老”). The main hall is three bays wide. All existing structures are built with a brick-and-wood structure, topped with small tiles, and feature flush-gable architecture. This construction technique is rarely preserved in the region and holds significant historical and artistic value.
