Shengli Canal

Shengli Canal is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhengzhou City.

Shengli Canal (commonly known as the Yinhe Diversion Project) is one of the important water diversion projects transferring water from west to east in Xingyang. It is a cross-basin water diversion project that channels water from the Sishui River of the Yellow River system into the Suo River of the Huai River system. The canal originates from Hanshanzhai Village in Caodian Village, Gongyi City, and ends at Nanguan in the old town of Xingyang City, spanning a total length of 11.5 kilometers. The project consists of two main canals—east and west. The west canal extends northward along the western bank of the Sishui River from the headworks, passing through villages such as Xiaolihe in Gongyi City, and flows into Wugou Village and Zhuchuan Village in Gaoshan Town, eventually entering Taixi Pool. The east canal starts from Caodian Village in Gongyi City and heads eastward, traversing Xiawo Town and Chengguan Township before joining the Suo River at the Suohe Office. Key hydraulic structures along the route include the Tuanjie Tunnel, Youyi Tunnel, Qunying Tunnel, Shengli Aqueduct, Wanmi Tunnel, and the distribution sluice. The North Branch Canal, a branch of the East Canal, diverges northward from the Dawang Village distribution sluice on the East Canal, passing through Xiawo Town, Shangjie District, Chengguan Township, and Wangcun Town before entering the Kuhe River.
