Grand Canyon
The Sanhe Grand Canyon is located northeast of Lingshan in Sanhe, facing Kelou Ridge and stretching eastward to Jiangfushan. Within its two-kilometer-long expanse, the canyon features steep cliffs, crisscrossing ravines, and rugged rocks. Known locally as Longtan Gully due to the presence of Dragon Pool in the valley, the canyon boasts three naturally formed pools running from west to east, untouched by human hands. Among them, the third pool is particularly stunning, spanning about 30 square meters with its deep, mysterious, crystal-clear waters. Lush vegetation and blooming wildflowers surround the three pools, while a refreshing breeze and a light mist create a serene atmosphere. Legend has it that during the Qing Dynasty’s Kangxi era, when a severe drought struck, Peng Ming, the then-county magistrate of Sanhe, prayed for rain at the pools to ensure a bountiful harvest for the local people — a story still widely told today.

Transportation: Departing from Beijing, you can take a direct bus from Dongzhimen’s 918 Bus Terminal to reach the site.
