Taishan Temple in Madong Village is a cultural relic protection unit of Henan Province.

Taishan Temple in Madong Village is located in Madong Village, Madian Township. It is a Qing Dynasty structure, with the entire complex facing south. Currently, only the rolled-awning front hall, offering hall, main hall, and rear hall remain. The mountain gate and theater stage were demolished in the 1990s when a school was built on the site.

The front hall, offering hall, and main hall are arranged compactly, and the perpendicular layout between the front hall and offering hall is quite unique. The front hall is a rolled-awning building with a hip-and-gable roof, covered with tubular and flat tiles, spanning three bays, featuring twenty-four “one-dou-three-sheng” bracket sets, with pendant columns beneath the plate railing. The whole structure is lively and dynamic. The offering hall is a six-rafter rolled-awning building with a front porch, spanning three bays, with brackets under the eaves. The main hall spans three bays, is a seven-rafter hanging-roof building, richly carved and painted, with exquisite wood carvings and additional flying rafters beyond the eave rafters. About twenty meters north of the main hall is the rear hall, a three-bay flush-gable-roof structure. The roofs of the aforementioned buildings have varying degrees of damage, with relief carvings of flowers and plants on the ridges. Inside the front hall are four stone tablets: the Taishan Temple Official Land Tablet from the 41st year of the Qianlong reign in the Qing Dynasty, the Rebuilt Taishan Imperial Carriage Tablet Inscription from the 11th year of the Guangxu reign, the Members’ Official Land Tablet Inscription from the 3rd year of the Tongzhi reign, and the Repaired Tribute Taishan Imperial Carriage Tablet from the 9th year of the Daoguang reign.

The Luoning Taishan Temple is generally well-preserved, featuring a unique architectural style and exquisite carvings. The perpendicular arrangement of the two halls is extremely rare in western Henan, giving it significant historical, artistic, and scientific value.
