The Shengfang Zhang Family Courtyard is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Hebei Province.

Zhang Family Courtyard

The Zhang Family Courtyard is located in Bazhou and was built in 1830 (the 10th year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty). The original owner was the Zhang family of Juxing Hall. Both the design and construction of this residence were commissioned from Beijing. It consists of four courtyard houses: the two western courtyards feature traditional Qing-style wooden post-and-lintel architecture with flush gable roofs, while the two eastern courtyards are built in European style. In the middle, there is a connecting hall known as the "Mandarin Duck Hall," which is a single hall with four rooms. Each of the four smaller courtyards has a small gate, and corridors connect them all. Parts of the courtyard complex remain in their original state, though some corridors have been altered or removed; however, the wooden framework remains untouched. After major renovations, the original appearance has been restored. It is now a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Hebei.
