Tang’erli Great Buddha Temple

The Tang’erli Great Buddha Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Great Buddha Temple is located in Gedacun Village, Tang’erli Town, Bazhou. Upon entering the Bazhou area, there is an archway by the roadside that clearly reads “Tang’erli Great Buddha Temple.” Entering through this archway leads you to the temple. Covering nearly 40 acres, the temple has received a total investment of 90 million yuan. Its architecture is grand and solemn, and the surroundings are serene and tranquil.

The mountain gate hall of the Great Buddha Temple is a single-eave hip-and-gable style structure, flanked by two fierce stone lions. The central arched gate features a vertical plaque in blue with yellow characters that read “Great Buddha Temple,” accompanied by the side inscriptions “May the Buddha’s Light Shine Brighter” and “May the True Dharma Endure,” written in red with yellow characters, making them particularly eye-catching. Since the hall houses statues of the Four Heavenly Kings, it also serves as the Heavenly King Hall. In the center of the hall, a Buddhist altar is currently under construction, with the seated statue of Maitreya Bodhisattva and the standing statue of Skanda waiting to be placed nearby. Beyond the mountain gate hall lies a large courtyard. At the center of the yard stands an outdoor statue of Guanyin, while two two-story buildings on either side appear to be monks’ quarters, lay practitioners’ dormitories, or other administrative offices. Behind the Guanyin statue is the main hall, a double-eave hip-and-gable structure spanning five bays, with the upper eave plaque inscribed “True Suchness Supreme Awakening” and the lower one “Mahavira Hall.” On both sides of the hall stand structures resembling a bell tower and a drum tower, connected by corridors to the main hall and adjacent rooms.

Behind the main hall is a three-story building. The ground floor is made of brick and stone, featuring octagonal diamond-shaped windows adorned with latticed wooden window frames. Above it is a two-story brick-and-wood structure with seven bays, a hip-and-gable roof covered with yellow glazed tiles and trimmed with green glazed tiles.
